This Week at Pulling Together: 19/05/2017

This week at Pulling Together was our 2nd National Vegetarian  Week cooking session. Thank you to The Vegetarian Society for their continued support.

We had a wonderful session in which everyone took some of the ingrdiants  and prepared their family favourite recipes. These included chana pilau, pakora, chana chaat, aloo tikki, pasta, cous cous, mango lassi and minted pineapple. Everyone had a wonderful evening and of course the best part was being able to share the food and stories of how these recipes came about.

This week members of Pulling Together took part in a conference at Manchester Metropolitan University. Global Girls. This event offered critical reflections on gender and girlhood in a global context. It explored how research on global experiences of girlhood, and the fuzzy distinctions between sex, bodies and gender, can translate into practice and brings together an interdisciplinary team of leading researchers, activists and community organisers who share an interest in how being a girl and a woman is constructed across spaces, places and cultures.

Pulling Together displayed their work and the members talked about their experiences with the group and they work we do.

The evening session was a practice session for next week Vegetarian Week’s cooking evening. The group made Chana Chaat, Grilled Paninis ,Pasta and Aloo Tiiki.
